Community Medical Center Presents Surgical Options for Weight Loss

Bariatric Surgery Information Session and Support Group to Meet

Toms River, NJ — Statistically, more than two in three American adults are overweight or obese, according to a National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Luckily, studies show that bariatric surgery to affect weight loss positively contributes to an improved quality of life.

Deciding to take control of your weight and health is not an overnight decision – it’s a journey. If you or someone you love is considering making a change to improve their weight and overall health, Community Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, invites you to a Bariatric Surgery Overview and Support Group on March 6 to learn about weight loss options. The Overview will take place from 6 to 7 p.m., and is followed by a Bariatric Surgery Support Group meeting from 7 to 9 p.m.

The Bariatric Surgery team at Community Medical Center will talk about the importance of focusing less on short-term goals, like reducing the size of your waist, and focusing more on long-term goals, like reducing your risk of Type 2 Diabetes, sleep apnea and hypertension. Bariatric surgeons Frank J. Borao, MD, Steven J. Binenbaum, MD, Gurdeep Matharoo, MD, Anil Pahuja, MD and James V. Pasquariello, MD, will talk about the emotional and mental benefits of weight loss, who is a candidate for a weight loss program, and the different treatment options offered at Community Medical Center, including gastric band surgery, gastric bypass surgery and gastric sleeve surgery.

The Bariatric Surgery Overview and Support Group will be held at Community Medical Center, located at 99 Route 37 West in Toms River, and will continue to meet there on the first Monday of every month at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.

Seating is limited and pre-registration is required. For more information and to register, call 1-888-724-7123.
