    Jason P. Garcia, MD, specializes in sports medicine, general orthopedics, surgical and nonsurgical treatment of fractures and dislocations, and shoulder and knee surgery. Dr. Garcia's expertise includes arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic labral and SLAP repair, arthroscopic Bankart and instability repair, and treatment for shoulder instability, shoulder dislocation, shoulder replacement, and biceps tendon rupture repair. In addition, he is adept at knee arthroscopic anatomic ACL reconstruction, arthroscopic meniscal repair, and cartilage restoration surgery as well as acute and chronic tendonitis and tendonopathy, patellar tears and ruptures, and quadriceps and Achilles tendon repair. Dr. Garcia is Former Assistant Team Physician for the San Diego Padres, San Diego State University, University of California at San Diego, and Mount Miguel / La Jolla Country Day High School football. He was also previously a team physician for Grossmont College football, a sideline physician for Hudson Catholic Varsity football and hockey, and an Orthopaedic Consultant for the New Jersey Ballet Company.. Dr. Garcia says, "I chose orthopedics because it allows me to help injured patients return to and maintain their activities and quality of life. It is especially satisfying when my patients tell me they can continue the activities they love as a result of my treatment." He adds, "I consider all aspects of a patient's situation, including physical findings, lifestyle, level and type of activity, and his or her expectations when determining a treatment plan. My goal is to help patients with the least invasive approaches possible." Dr. Garcia is the coauthor of articles and abstracts that are published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals, including Orthopedics. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Garcia is a recipient of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey- New Jersey School of Medicine Dean's Letter of Commendation for Clinical Excellence and the Resident Teacher of the Year Award. He has been featured in the New Jersey Monthly "Top Doctors" listing. When he is not working with his patients, Dr. Garcia enjoys spending time with his family, including playing football, wrestling, baseball, hockey, and basketball with his 2 sons. Dr. Garcia also enjoys coaching wrestling as well as engaging in weightlifting, power lifting, and Crossfit training.
