Educational Program
Academic Half-Day (aka, “School”)
Fridays 8AM-12PM
The core educational experience is the Academic Half Day (aka “School”) and is designed to cover the ABP content specifications over an 12-month period. It allows for interruption-free opportunities to learn utilizing a variety of methods, from traditional lecture based to QI project working sessions to small group breakouts.

Pediatric Grand Rounds (Wednesdays)
- Traditional lecture format with invited nationally recognized speakers, department faculty, and PGY-3s!

Morning Report (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays)

Varying cases with diverse approaches highlighted
- Mock scenarios
- Inpatient and outpatient focused discussions
- Social determinants
- Every 3rd Thursday (PGY-1), Outpatient-angle concentrated

- Resident run and specialty specific faculty participation

Mock Code (Last Friday of the month)
- Organized and run by our PEM faculty/fellows
- Conducted in our institutional Simulation Center

Radiology Lecture (Select Fridays)
- Taught by our dynamic radiologist board-certified in Pediatrics as well as Pediatric Radiology

Journal Club (Last Friday of the month)
- Assigned articles discussed with a standardized approach to teach how to review the literature critically

Bimonthly Pediatric Tumor Board
- Multidisciplinary discussion of noteworthy oncology cases

Institutional General Competency Lecture (Wednesdays [Summer/Fall])
- Topics presented that cross through disciplines
Scholarly Activity

C.A.R.E. Block (Career, Advocacy, Research/QI, Education)

2-week block during PGY-2 to give dedicated time to progress in any of the above disciplines more deeply
